In The Big Short, Michael Lewis provides a fascinating look into the mortgage securitization market and how its collapse lead to the Great Recession. The book provides good insight into the recent allegations against Goldman Sachs. Lewis also provides a very interesting opinion on the root cause of the recent turmoil in the financial markets.

We have all been wondering about the lingering effects from the housing crisis. When will we get back to normal and what will that look like? The author of the attached article believes that conventional suburbs are overbuilt and permanently out of favor. This conclusion is driven by a combination of higher transportation costs and a choice of younger homeowners to live in more walk-able neighborhoods. Established patterns of behavior change slowly but this trend is something we all need to consider.
